Girls Soccer

The girls soccer team played cross-town rivals NDA on Saturday morning.  It is always a battle when these two teams meet, and this one was no different. Senior Emily Gibbons scored first followed by junior Ava Varholak who headed one in on a corner kick.  Senior captain Sophie Reale scored the next three goals for Hingham and junior Claire Murray capped off the 6-0 win with the Harborwomen's 6th goal.

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team played in closest game of the day.  But before the game started, there was a moment of silence in remembrance of those who've lost their lives to suicide.  The Harbormen wore customized black jerseys, provided by Invernizzi Landscaping, to bring awareness to suicide prevention and the new 988 hotline.

They matched up against Norwell in a pretty evenly played game.  The boys were tied at halftime even though Hingham had a few chances to score in the half.  Early in the second half though, senior captain Cole Sampson took a pass up the middle and buried it in the back of the net.  The Clippers kept fighting and with under five minutes to play, tied it up at 1 a piece.  The game ended in a tie.

Football

In the finale of the day, the Harbormen took on Weymouth in game that was circled in the calendar since last year.  Weymouth beat Hingham in Weymouth last season and they have been eager at the chance for a rematch.  Weymouth scored first on a 79 yard TD run in the first quarter and took an 8-0 lead.  Hingham responded with a Will St. Pierre TD and a Harry Bradshaw XP.  Bradshaw tacked on a FG to make it 10-8.  I the third quarter, RB Jeremy Aylward took the hand off and pulled up and threw a 40 yd TD pass to Cam Dobson.  The two point conversion by Gunnar Corey was good and Hingham was up 18-8.  Weymouth cut the lead to 3 with a TD and XP late in the game.  Hingham recovered the onsides kick but went 3 and out.  Corey punted the ball down to the 1 yard line.  Two plays laters, Mike Schwartz sacked the QB in the end zone for a safety giving Hingham the 20-15 win.
