Homelessness and food insecurity are not a trivial matter, but success in a local trivia contest has helped feed the homeless.

Every Tuesday evening, The Greenside Grille at the South Shore Country Club hosts trivia night with Mike from Mx & Match Entertainment hosting the program. On a typical night, 8 to 12 teams will compete with the winning team earning a $50 gift card and the runner up team a $30 gift card. When there are ten or more teams, a third place team wins a $20 gift card.

Over the past two years, the Flames, formerly known as Retriever, has enjoyed great success and decided to share that success with the Father Bill’s Shelter in Quincy. On most night’s Father Bill’s serves upwards 120 dinners to residents. When team members mentioned it to some of the other teams, members of Cove Crew and Taco Cat joined in with donations. The accumulated winnings resulted in six large trays of chicken, broccoli and ziti were served up at Father Bill’s to rave reviews.

Pictured in the photo are some of the team members along with Frank Ricci of the Greenside Grille.  Team members include Captain Nancy Stimson,  DeWitt and Paula Delauter, Diane Furlong, Joan Glynn, Kelly Roberts, Hillary Ferrante, Debbie, Tom and sometimes Colby Hoffman, Leslie Kehoe  and the late Cheryl Flaman.

The Trivia Night is held Tuesday at 7 p.m. and typically ends at 8:30 p.m. Reservations are encouraged.
