How You Can Help Local Small Business While Social Distancing

Hingham MA Support Local
March 15, 2020 compiled in partnership with Courtney Doyle, Clandestine Kitchen

These are crazy, uncharted times we are facing but one thing we know for sure – there is unity in community.  While we all need to protect each other through social distancing at this time below are ways we can continue to support our local small business community. Many business owners have adapted their services in order to meet the needs of the community while keeping a healthy distance.

Many thanks to Courtney Doyle of Clandestine Kitchen for her help in reaching out to our small business community to compile the following list.

Alma Nove/Wahlburgers

First and foremost, my heart goes out to all those affected by COVID-19 - may we all continue to follow guidance from the CDC & local health officials to slow the spread of this horrible virus. While many have been advised to work from home during this uncertain time, this is unfortunately not an option for the millions of people who work in the restaurant industry. I know many of you understand the reality of this - some reports have estimated that nearly half of U.S. adults have worked in the restaurant industry throughout our lifetime. So how can we continue to support our favorite restaurants during this challenging time? Buy gift cards, order out or have your favorite meals delivered. We have been so welcomed by this community since we opened our doors at Alma Nove in 2010 and I can assure you the health & safety of our guests at both @wahlburgers and @almanove are our main priority. In Hingham, we are now offering curbside pick-up at both restaurants and delivery for residents within the Shipyard.  It may seem scary out there right now - but I promise we will get through it together!  - Chef Paul Wahlberg

Assembly

We're staying open with regular hours at Assembly and would love to see you at the shop! We're still receiving new inventory and will be sure to have everything online as soon as possible. If you're staying home or social distancing, you can shop online at www.assemblyshowroom.com - we are offering curbside pickup or free local delivery (up to 10 miles). We're also extending an additional $25 for all gift card purchases, gift cards will be mailed directly to your home. We are so grateful for your support and appreciate the kindness as we push through this! Stay well! - Matt & Evan

How can you support The Bar Method? Purchase a New Client Special for yourself or a friend! You get 30 days of unlimited classes for just $99.  Buy it now and your 30 days won’t start until you take your first class - whether that is tomorrow, next month or next year!

BoatHouse Bistro

To Our Loyal Customers, As we navigate through this unprecedented situation we wanted to update you on how we are coping with COVID-19 here at Boathouse Bistro and the steps we are taking to protect our guests, take out customer and staff.

1)     We are taking extra precautions beyond our regular disinfection and sanitizing efforts in all areas of our restaurant – from the kitchen to the dining tables and bar.

2)     In addition to offering take-out service we are adding delivery service as well so we can deliver anything on our menu right to your door.

3)     For on-line orders that are paid in advance we will offer curbside service so that you don’t need to enter the restaurant to pick up your order.

5)     We’ll also be offering great value specials during the course of the week so please like our Facebook page and check back often to learn about some of the great deals we’ll be offering.

Finally, from the bottom of our heart we want to thank everyone for supporting local businesses, whether its Boathouse Bistro or any of the other fine eateries in Town, we’ll get through this together. To place an order for pickup or delivery please give us a call at (781) 749-3777 or place an order on-line at https://www.toasttab.com/boathouse-bistro-hingham/v3#!/

We are grateful for your support. Sincerely, Tinka and Steve McCauley

Infinite Potential PT and Wellness

We are staying open for business as usual as long as it is safe to do so in order to help to continue to support the local community we are currently serving. We know this week has been trying for all of us, and we wanted to share some things we are implementing or have already implemented in the clinic to do what we can to keep everyone healthy. We are staying updated on the latest information from the CDC, the WHO and local and state authorities; acting responsibly by avoiding travel to outbreak hotspots, practicing social distancing, cleaning more rigorously and practicing good hand hygiene. We understand that there is some hype and uncertainty, but we'd like to be a place where you / your children can come to get your mind off what's happening and get a good workout in.

Intrinsic Provisions

We understand that this time is extremely hard for everyone be that proprietors or customers. So many things are in a state of flux. We understand. While things have been slow at Intrinsic Provisions they were already by design as we had allotted time to assess our business model following the holidays. We realized how important it was to carefully select brands that are compelling, valuable and meaningful to our customers. And that those are brands that will enhance the pursuits intrinsic to our customers. Whether sitting by a bonfire on a beach or skinning up a mountain for fresh tracks.

As many people know, we have two sides of our store. A "feature brand" side and the "must have" side. The "feature brand" side is where brands like Stio and Topo Designs have been. As it happens, being in the midst of planning and we're between brands anyway so it makes perfect sense for us to close our doors for the next two weeks. If there is anything that anyone needs specifically please reach out to us at rightnow@intrinsicprovisions.com and we'd be happy to help by appointment.

We’ve been working diligently on the calendar for the remainder of 2020 and we’re tremendously excited about how the schedule is shaping up. Our next brand up is Reima which is a 0-12 kids brand from Finland. We'll have a great selection of absolutely adorable rainwear and swimwear. When Reima arrives we'll likely be doing a series of small shopping groups and will be working through local newcomers groups to help facilitate those.

We've also partnered with Grand Classroom to outfit kids from Hingham Middle School for the Expedition with Salewa Shoes and Packs and Stio apparel so we're hoping that trip still happens.

In the meantime, here is roughly what the calendar looks like for the remainder of 2020.

  • April 1 through Mid-April: @reimanorthamerica - Finland (kids swimwear and rainwear)
  • Mid-April through July: Stio Spring/Summer - Jackson Hole
  • Mid-August through September: Fjallraven - Norway
  • October 1-Mid-October: Reima (kids winter wear)
  • Mid-October - Mid-January: Stio Fall/Winter

We will continue to update folks on this and other new brands coming to the “must have” side of the store but we hope that people are able to use this time to reflect and continue to get after #whatsintrinsictoyou

Irish Eyes Photography

As Irish Eyes Photography (www.irisheyesphotography.com) is a non essential service based business, it is currently closed to clients (we will still be working just not taking portraits). We are doing our part to give people one less reason to need to go out. This does mean a good number of clients have had to reschedule or cancel and does mean we aren’t booking new clients for the coming weeks. This will certainly show a loss in sales for this time of year. If you planned on booking a session this year at all, now is a great time to book it  and pay your deposit so 1: it gets on the calendar and 2: we can feel good knowing SOME money is coming in during this time of year. Another great way to support our business is to buy gift certificates for yourself or friends. We can do virtual gift certificates for now or mail physical copies.  If none of these options are what works for you right now, spreading positivity by telling people about your experience with Irish Eyes Photography so THEY can book with us is always a huge help. Leaving lovely reviews on Google and Facebook is wonderful and deeply appreciated. Even just commenting back on posts and watching live videos that Kerry shares is a huge boost. (Kerry plans one for Monday about ways to lean in to this time of healthy separation.)  We hope everyone stays safe germ-free and respects this mitigation plan so it can work.  Thank you for reading and for your time!

Kindred

We are choosing to stay operational on terms that feel safe for our employees and our willing customers. We will be open by appointment, (and rest assured that we have made good use of disinfectants at the shop) and will be taking orders via the phone or Instagram. Should you need to send a loved one a thoughtful gift or just treat yourself to a comfy pair of pajamas and slippers, we are happy to drop off purchases at your address or to ship them to addresses outside of the Hingham area. Be safe and be well, and if you decide to venture out, please try to shop small & local.  By phone:617-759-2414; Instagram @kindred.hingham; via email at stylekindred@gmnail.com.

Kloth

We want to be ahead of the curve and do our little bit to protect our community. This is too big for us. Therefore we are closing until further notice to remove any risk of exposure to employees or customers. We encourage our community to practice social distancing. We all want to feel a sense of normalcy but sadly these aren’t normal times. However we will get through this together because of our deep care for each other and our community.  These aren’t easy decisions. Just trying to do the right thing.

Orange Theory

Being responsible for your health means more than just washing your hands.  More than using antibacterial sprays and wipes.  It means being cognizant that we are all in the same boat, whether we want to shop at stores, eat at restaurants or exercise at fitness facilities.   We are in uncharted times with uncertainty all around us.  What we can find certain is that the small businesses in our town have your back.  We are all too aware of the situation at this time and we too are scared.  Your support during these times is more than just a statement that you will help.  It’s taking a moment to realize that it’s ok to be nervous or feel panic, and that perhaps just coming into that small business will help you feel some normalcy.  Help restore some faith.  Give yourself the confidence that we will get thru this and while at the time being the hysteria is real and valid, that these small businesses need your support the most.

Sarah Hinchey Photography

What can you do to help support personal care service providers like Portrait Photographer Sarah Hinchey? Consider reaching out now to reserve your summer and fall photoshoots while you're home and have some extra free time. Who couldn't use an updated LinkedIn profile picture, or some beautiful portraits of your family? Booking this far in advance you'll have your first choice of session date on the schedule, and it'll be one less thing on your to-do list. You can also support service businesses by purchasing gift certificates to give to friends and family or use at a later date.

The Green Light Hingham

Hello From The Green Light Hingham! We will be open regular hours M-F 7-3pm and Saturday 8-2. If you feel more comfortable calling in your order, we would be happy to deliver to your vehicle when you pull up (please let us know when you place your order). Stay Healthy, Safe, and Happy!

White Magdelena House

This is Lisa Parsons from White Magdelena House. Right now, we are planning on staying open for our regular hours Tuesday- Saturday 10-5. We will continue to keep our space regularly disinfected and clean. Since we are a small store, there is less worry about being near large numbers of people. We are also offering free shipping to your home on any rug or linen orders. We will drop off to your door any rug or linen samples you would like to see and take orders by phone. We sell Dash and Albert rugs and Pine Cone Hill Linens. For our customers who would like help on a decorating project, we are offering one on one meetings at our store during evening hours as well as FaceTime video meetings. We have gift certificates to purchase over the phone as well. Thank you!

Whitney Gordon's Jewelers

Our hearts and well wishes go out to anyone affected by the Coronavirus and we hope that all of us stay healthy and safe. In the meantime, we are open normal business hours and as well as many others in town will be happy to accommodate our customers in any way we can.

Woodies Goodies Shipyard Food Truck

Woody will be open for business as usual at his shipyard location. He is offering curb side window service to any commuters that are now working from home.  He takes sanitization extremely seriously and appreciates the support of the local community during this time.

Saisons’ team will be here to support your needs during our regular hours. We are happy to accommodate curbside pick up or home deliveries of your favorite SkinCeuticals &/or Sothys products. Packages & gift certificates can also be purchased over the phone. We are limiting our appts to never have more than 6 people in our space at a time. Often times it is 3 people or less.  We have always followed proper sanitation. With this beautiful weather we are opening windows to let the fresh air in. Please contact us for anything you need ... including prayer during this difficult time.

Did we miss your business?  Send a short write up and photo to the email below and we'll add you to the list: info@hinghamanchor.com
