Nicole Nosek, who is resigning from her role as principal of Hull High School at the end of June, has accepted the position of assistant principal at Hingham High School.
Nosek, a Hanover resident, is enthusiastic about joining the Hingham Public Schools district in July and taking on a different role. "I'm just thrilled to move on in my career," she told the Hingham Anchor.
In her new position, Nosek will have an opportunity to "work more directly with students on a daily basis."
Hingham High School Principal Rick Swanson said the retirement of Jennifer Henriksen "represents the end of an era for our school administration. We're grateful for the endless contributions she has made to our school during nearly two decades as an assistant principal. Replacing her will be no small task, but Nicole Nosek is extremely well prepared for that challenge."
Swanson noted that throughout her career, Nosek has earned a reputation as an outstanding educator -- first as an English teacher in Quincy, and then as an administrator, most recently in her role at Hull High School.
"Besides experience and expertise, she also brings a genuine passion for education. Like others on our faculty and in our school's administration, Mrs. Nosek works hard every day to make a difference in the lives of students," Swanson said. "Those values, just as much as her extensive experience and skill set, will enable her to make an immediate and positive impact in our school. I'm thrilled that she will be joining our team."
Nosek started her career with the Quincy Public Schools as an English teacher at the middle and high school level, which spanned 20 years.
"Working with students at the secondary level has been my passion for my entire career. I enjoy working with teenagers," she said. "It's a very exciting time in their lives, when they are becoming adults. Seeing their progression from ninth- to 12th graders is pretty amazing. The kids change a lot from one grade to another."
Nosek left the QPS several years ago to accept an assistant principal position at Hull High School, serving in that role for three years before being promoted to principal. This is her fourth year in that role.
She explained what attracted her to the assistant principal position in Hingham: "Hingham Public Schools is a strong school district with a very good reputation and a very supportive community."
Her first priority once she steps into her new role is to get to know the students, staff, and the culture of the building.
Nosek has known Swanson for a few years through a South Shore principals' group and is looking forward to working with him in the months and years that lie ahead.
