October 19, 2023 By The Hingham Historical Society
It was a perfect fall evening for the Hingham Historical Society’s Tavern Night at the Old Ordinary at 21 Lincoln Street on Saturday, October 14th. Greeted upon arrival by the Hingham Militia, a record sold-out crowd of over 400 guests enjoyed a tour of the first floor of the house and tavern before continuing to the tented parking lot for the evening’s festivities. Boston’s Best, and Hingham’s own, Kate’s Table Catering served delicious autumn inspired hors d’oeuvres, the Cocktail Guru mixed colonial cocktails and live music from Hingham’s Raw Generic set the perfect soundtrack for the night. A memorable celebration of Hingham history and the Old Ordinary was enjoyed by all!
The Hingham Historical Society would like to thank the leadership of the 2023 Tavern Night Host Committee: Ken and Joy Foraste, Matt and Marissa MacDonald, Lauren and Rob Mahoney, Mo and Karen Bradshaw, Jen and Tim Hunt, John and Britta Hallisey, Sarah and Declan Gaul, Lindsey and Rob Merrill. Sponsors of the event included Boston Beer Company, brewers of Sam Adams, Burke Distributing, The Fruit Center, and Egle Ruth Photography. The Hingham Historical Society is grateful to the many local businesses who support their programming throughout the year.
Tavern Night is the largest fundraiser of the year for the non-profit organization whose mission is to collect, preserve, and promote Hingham’s historic heritage. Funds raised from the event will help to support the expansion of the number of schoolchildren and visitors learning American history through the lens of Hingham.
