In the Kitchen with: Alma Nove!

The Anchor recently had the chance to head into the kitchen with Chef Anne from Alma Nove to show us two, restaurant quality appetizers that you can easily make at home for the holidays!

The two appetizers that we cooked up were Sweet Sausage, Spinach and Goat Cheese Phyllo cups and a classic favorite – scallops wrapped in bacon.  Here is a video is for your enjoyment: Alma Nove’s Easy Holiday Apps at Home.  Step-by-step instructions are also below.

Bon appétit!

Alma Nove’s Sausage, Spinach & Goat Cheese Phyllo Cups

Ingredients:

Sweet Italian Sausage

Garlic

Olive oil

Fresh Spinach

Goat Cheese Log

Frozen phyllo dough cups (can be found at any local grocery)

Directions:

Preheat our oven to 350 degrees.  In a saute pan, sauté garlic with a dash of olive oil and add your sweet Italian sausage.  Sauté until cooked through.  Add in your fresh spinach until wilted then break apart your goat cheese log and add pieces to the mixture.  Stir until cheese is melted.

Remove the mixture from your stovetop and fill your phyllo cups.  Pop into a 350 degree oven for 7-8 minutes and serve warm.

Alma Nove’s Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

Ingredients:

Fresh Scallops

Panko Bread Crumbs

Salt

Pepper

Bacon

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.  Season Panko breadcrumbs with salt & pepper.  Dredge your fresh scallops in the seasoned breadcrumbs.  Wrap each scallop in bacon and secure with a tooth pick.  Put them in the pre-heated 425 degree oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the bacon is brown & crispy.  If you happen to have a fryolator at home, alternatively you can fry them for extra crispiness.

And if you don’t have time to make them at home, go on in and visit Chef Anne, Chef Paul and their staff and they will no doubt whip up something delicious for you.  www.almanove.com.
