Laura English Marwill is proud to announce her candidacy for Hingham Town Clerk for the election next spring. Her years of service on the Advisory Committee and other civic organizations have honed the skills, experience and personal qualities necessary to deliver timely, efficient, diligent and friendly execution of the Town Clerk’s duties.
Marwill grew up in Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School. A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross with a B.A. in Spanish, she went on to become a Chartered Financial Analyst while employed at BankBoston in the Capital Markets Group.
She settled in Hingham with her husband Roger, where they raised their three children, Joe, Evan and Sam. Marwill developed a tremendous sense of volunteerism and civic engagement, but also a deep appreciation for Hingham’s form of self-government.
“I recognize that it is the people and their commitment to serve Hingham that make it special. My children have matured. I find I have the time and the desire to give back to the town that has given so much to me and my family over the years, and to set the example for the next generation,” Marwill said.
Marwill has served Hingham and its civic organizations for many years. She was a member of the Advisory Committee during the difficult years following the 2008 financial crisis. She later served on the Accessory Dwelling Unit Study Committee formed by the Planning Board to help inform Town Meeting recommendations, and many other civic groups.
“I have had the pleasure of interacting with Eileen McCracken many times over the years and have always appreciated her warm and friendly attitude.” Marwill noted, “My years of involvement in our town’s activities gives me confidence I am prepared and would be honored to serve as Hingham’s next Town Clerk.
