Lauren E. McGrath

Lauren Elizabeth McGrath, 23, of Hingham, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, October 5, after a brief illness.

Lauren was born on August 16, 2001 to Jane and Kevin McGrath in West Springfield, MA, and lived in Hingham. Lauren was a 2020 graduate of Hingham High School and attended UMass Boston and Southern New Hampshire University.

Lauren loved and was loved by the pets in her care as a member of the Heidi’s Hounds team, winning over the least friendly canines and most aloof felines with her kind and expert handling, becoming a favorite handler among Heidi’s staff. Her affinity for animals and for dogs in particular led her to find and adopt her beloved terrier, Jamie, and make him a member of the family.

Lauren had a generous spirit and was full of light and love. She made it her mission to find the perfect gift for each friend and family member at birthdays and holidays. She enjoyed getting together with family and friends at large gatherings and celebrations and always had a plate of brownies or chocolate chip cookies to share. Lauren treasured annual summer vacations with her extended family. She especially loved the Fall and apple picking, pumpkin carving and Halloween. Lauren was a wizard with any type of tech device and was talented with crafts and woodworking. Lauren’s generous and giving spirit was exemplified with her final and greatest gift: the gift of life through organ donation.

Lauren is survived by her parents, Kevin and Jane, her sister, Christina, all of Hingham, MA, and by her fiancé and the love of her life, Joseph Mondello of Lawrence, MA. Lauren is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
