The public is welcome to stop by the Dolphin and Clemens art galleries at Hingham Public Library to view and enjoy the work of two new artists.

In the Dolphin Gallery

"The Art of Jory Mason: Blustering Color," a solo exhibition, will be on display through April 28. This exhibit is sponsored by the North River Arts Society.

Mason, who considers herself an expressive impressionist, focuses on exploring creative color, striving to identify her intension for each painting before beginning the process of creating on a wide variety of subjects. "Passion and beauty are often right in front of us," she notes.

This award-winning artist exhibits in Boston, New York, North Carolina, New Mexico, and Italy. Her work has been showcased in “Strokes of Genius 8: Exploring Texture!” by North Light Books. She was also the recipient of the Contemporary Art Curator Magazine's “Collector’s Vision International Art Award” in recognition of her talent as “an artist who has achieved a body of work of major cultural significance, 2021.”

Mason attended L’Instituto D’Arte in Italy. She had her first solo exhibition there, which was completely sold out. She later studied at New England School of Art/Design and Mass College of Art.

Mason is enthusiastic about teaching art at the North River Arts Society and at the Plymouth Art Guild, has attained “Master Pastel Painter” status with the International Association of Pastel Societies, and has led workshops both nationally and abroad.

In the Clemens Gallery

The Clemens Gallery is currently featuring "The Art of Albert Engelhart: Ode to Stan VanDerBeek," also through April 28.

Featured works include surrealist collages made with vintage magazine clippings and Boston-centric pop pieces created from lottery tickets, resin, and old license plates.

Engelhart, a Hingham-based artist, works in the woods of Wompatuck State Park when he’s not making creations in his garage studio.
