Liz Klein Reelection Announcement

Liz Klein

December 19, 2023 Submitted by Committee to Elect Liz Klein

Liz Klein, Chair of the Hingham Select Board, announces that she will run for reelection in the April 2024 Town election.

“Serving as a member of the Hingham Select Board has been an honor and privilege. With this privilege comes great responsibility and I have approached my obligations with the dedication and seriousness they demand. I knew when I sought this position the first time, we would be faced with some major challenges as a community. Coming out of a global pandemic, we needed to find solutions to the exposed flaws and balance the level of services our citizens expect and deserve with the available funding sources, while at the same time maintaining our AAA bond rating. I faced these issues head on with humility and transparency, always being guided by what’s in the best interest of our entire Town. I have continued the traditions of our well managed and governed Town while making the necessary adjustments to invest in our people, processes, technology, and infrastructure.”

“Reflecting on my first term, there is much to be proud of as a community. We have celebrated three years of owning and operating an award-winning Water Company. We have broken ground on a new public safety facility and elementary school. We have started implementing the Town’s Master Plan making great strides in the areas of affordable housing, climate resiliency, and inclusivity. We are moving forward with the much needed new Center for Active Living.  We have made our downtown and neighborhoods safer through a variety of strategies.”

“Looking ahead, there’s still much to do and I’m seeking the opportunity to continue serving the Town. We need to pursue economic development opportunities to keep tax rates low, while meeting citizens’ expectations for services. Continuing to build the optimal team and improving processes, and using technology will make Town operations more efficient and effective.”

Since moving to Hingham eighteen years ago, Liz has been an active participant and leader in the community. Her Town experience includes service on the Hingham Master Plan Committee (Board of Selectmen Appointee), Hingham Downtown Association (Executive Director), Hingham’s 375th Anniversary Committee, the Hingham Women’s Club (President, Treasurer), and the Hingham Education Foundation (Communications Director).

“My extensive experience and collaborative leadership style will continue to benefit both the Select Board and our Town. One of the goals of my first term was to improve relations between the Select Board and School Committee. The Hingham Public Schools are one of our greatest assets, and we must sustain their excellence while also supporting our children academically, socially, and emotionally. I commit to continuing to approach our Town’s challenges with a focus on what is best for all of Hingham.”

After graduating from the University of Richmond with a BSBA in Finance, Liz’s career began as a financial services consultant at Accenture working with Fortune 500 clients. Over the past 25 years, she has worked on projects of all sizes in strategic planning, corporate education, marketing strategy, and human resources. Throughout her volunteer and professional experience, Liz has a strong track record of working well with people who hold different perspectives to achieve common goals.

Liz and her husband Scott have two children, both students at Hingham High School.
