Local Hingham and Hull Quilters will be represented in the upcoming “A Ruby Celebration” Quilt show at Blue Hills Regional Technical School in Canton MA on Saturday April 5 from 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.
Rhododendron Needlers Quilt Guild (RNQG) will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary showcasing 150 quilts made by members. Activities of note will be a 1:30pm presentation each day about Antique Quilts, quilt appraisals, scissor sharpening, Raffle Baskets, a Boutique of handmade treasures, and multiple local vendors. Tickets for the beautiful “Star Gazing” Raffle Quilt will be available as well. Admission is $10 with children under 12 free.
Dottie Sullivan of Hingham has always loved to sew and has been a quilter for 20 years. She joined RNQG in 2005 at the suggestion of her sister-in-law and has been happily quilting since. Dottie says, “When you make a quilt for someone, you are giving them a unique and heartfelt gift which money cannot buy. This motivates me to continue on my quilting journey.” Dottie’s efforts have been doubly rewarded with happy gift recipients as well as with the “People’s Choice” Award, 2nd Place RNQG Quilt Show 2011 and “Vendor Choice” Award RNQG Quilt Show 2023.
Marci Toma of Hull has been quilting for 15 years after a friend invited her to quilt together. She joined RNQG in 2011 and loves to quilt for its creative outlet as well as the community it brings. The quilt show in Canton is like a pop-up fiber art exhibit and it’s in the suburbs, so easier to access than a museum in the city, with free parking and fully accessible; you will be happy to experience it.
