Maddie’s Promise is thrilled to announce its 4th annual gala, set to take place at the stunning Black Rock Country Club in Hingham on October 18, from 7 to 11 PM. This year marks the first time Maddie’s Promise will host its annual event at this beautiful local venue.
Maddie’s Promise was founded in memory of Maddie McCoy, an 11-year-old girl from Hingham who passed away in 2019 from rhabdomyosarcoma. Maddie was a vibrant, energetic girl who loved soccer, gymnastics, and spending time with her friends. Even during her illness, she worked with her friends and family to create artwork and plan fundraisers to help other kids at Boston Children’s Hospital and those facing homelessness.
The evening will feature live music from the Smoking Jackets, a popular band on the South Shore. They will also be hosting a live auction with incredible items, including an e-bike from Atlantic Cycles, a shopping spree from Chel Bella, and a gorgeous ring from Hingham Jewelers. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle, with nine baskets filled with treats from local small businesses. Raffle tickets can be purchased either at the event or in advance.
Only ten tickets are left to attend the gala and all proceeds go toward helping children diagnosed with rare cancers like rhabdomyosarcoma. Maddie’s Promise is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for innovative research, which is often underfunded. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have donated over $400,000 since our founding.
“Pediatric cancer research receives only about four percent of public research funds annually, making non-profits like ours vital in supporting groundbreaking research,” Shared Ann McCoy, Founder of Maddie’s Promise. “Our mission is to push for better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for rare pediatric cancers. In addition to supporting cancer research, we are proud to uphold Maddie’s promise to help children at Boston Children’s Hospital and individuals experiencing homelessness.”
Most recently, in collaboration with Trellis Home Design, Maddie’s Promise led a “dream room makeover” for a 6-year-old boy living with a chronic pediatric disease. This young boy, treated his entire life at Boston Children’s, now has a space that brings him comfort and joy.
Maddie’s incredible spirit continues to inspire our efforts, and Maddie’s Promise is committed to honoring her legacy through the work of their non-profit.
