WHO:
Heroes Among Us Honoree George Mattison of Hingham, Massachusetts.
WHAT:
Thirteen-year-old Hingham, MA native George Mattison started cleaning cars during his summer break from school as a way to stay busy and save money. Inspired by his neighbor’s fight against cancer, Mattison donated a percentage of his proceeds to funds that aid cancer research for children.
George Mattison was honored as a Hero Among Us for his selfless effort to support cancer research for children.
WHEN:
George Mattison was honored on January 2, 2022, when the Boston Celtics played the Orlando Magic.
WHY:
Since its establishment in 1997 by the Boston Celtics, The Heroes Among Us program has recognized outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities. The award is presented at every Celtics home game and pays tribute to the heroic achievements of these outstanding citizens.
