Honoring the Past, and Preserving Our Democracy:
The 81st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor is an opportunity to honor the sacrifice and dedication of our "Greatest Generation" both civilian and military, they endured incredible sacrifices on December 7, 1941, a "date which will live in infamy."
The President of the United States of America proclaims December 7, 2022, as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. He encourages all Americans to observe this solemn day of remembrance and to honor our military, past and present, with appropriate ceremonies and activities. All governmental agencies and interested organizations, groups, and individuals shall fly the flag of the United States at half-staff this December 7th in honor of the more than 2,400 Americans patriots who died as a result of their service at Pearl Harbor.
The Town of Hingham Department of Veterans’ Services is proud to announce that in recognition of this National Day of Remembrance, the appropriate Honors will be rendered on the grounds of the Hingham Shipyard / Wednesday, December 7th 2022 at 1 p.m.
The event is open to the public and participation is highly recommended. Members of the Military, along with Federal, State, and Local Officials will be in attendance as a wreath is placed at the US Navy Amphibious Veterans of Massachusetts Memorial.
