Hingham is known for its strong athletic programs, and soon, a new team will join the scene: the Hingham High School cheer team. This exciting addition will allow Hingham’s student-athletes to shine and showcase their skills beginning in Fall 2025.
While cheerleading is new to HHS, it’s certainly not new to our town. Our youth cheer program boasts nearly 100 athletes in grades K-8, and these teams have consistently achieved success competing at the state level while supporting the youth football programs at their weekly games. Many of these same athletes also participate in All-Star Cheer, a club sport where they compete nationally. Thanks to HHS leadership, Hingham has a path to continue cheer throughout high school.
Cheerleading has numerous benefits for young athletes. Stunting, tumbling, and dance promote physical fitness, coordination, teamwork, and discipline. It also helps build confidence, leadership skills, and community among its participants.
For the town of Hingham, a cheerleading team will be felt and heard at high school football and basketball games and other staple school and community events, lifting the spirits and energy of participants and crowds.
The new HHS cheer team will be open to athletes of any gender looking for a challenging and rewarding experience. We encourage all interested students to follow the team’s Instagram page, @hinghamhscheer, to stay current on open gyms and tryouts this spring.
We are actively working to raise funds for mats, equipment, and uniforms. To support our new team, you can Venmo @hinghamhscheer or make checks payable to Hingham HS Cheer, addressed to 15 Stoddard Road in Hingham.
We are confident the Hingham High School Cheer team will be a valuable addition to our school and community. We can’t wait to see our student-athletes represent Hingham with pride and enthusiasm.
Go Harbormen!
