The Notre Dame Academy girls lacrosse team won their 3rd State Championship in a row on June 13, 2024 in a thrilling game against Walpole High School that ended with a score of 14-10. The NDA team had finished a strong season and entered the playoffs as the top Division 2 seed with an overall record of 17-1. Hard work, talented players and excellent coaching came together as the girls persevered through each round of the play-offs to the final whistle of the championship game.
Coach Meredith Frank McGinnis credits much of the team’s success to seniors Siobhan Colin, Jane Hilsabeck, Aubrey McMahon and Ciara Williams. Coach Frank McGinnis shares that “The senior class is 4 unbelievably selfless, humble, hard-working student-athletes. To win a state championship and sustain the success that they have had is because they have been invested since day one, they set the tone and they are tremendous leaders. It is truly because of those four.”
Game highlights included goals scored by Siobhan Colin, Jane Hilsabeck, Emma Connerty, Sadie Lopez, Aubrey McMahon and Carolin Haggerty. Defensive standouts included Ava Orlando, Elle Orlando, Grace Rooney, Charlotte Steele and goalkeeper Adair Routh. The team roster included Hingham residents: Jane Hilsabeck, Paige Foraste, Ciara Williams, Charlotte Steele, Elizabeth Bastardi, Anna Haggerty and Caroline Haggerty.
