Notre Dame Academy’s Robotics team is up and coding!
Team members, coaches, and mentors participated in the first multi-site livestream “reveal” for the FIRST Tech Challenge and the excitement was palpable! After a day of fun activities, team meet-and-greets, and break-out sessions covering lots of tech team topics, the 2023-24 Challenge was announced: “Lights, Cameras, STEM!: Centerstage.”
With eight teams onsite, there was plenty of time to meet the competition, share contacts, and talk about the new challenges that this year’s theme would bring. Friendly competition in tallest structure building, robot-building for personality, and lots of snacks made the Archbishop Williams location a perfect spot to kick off the new season.
The team has been very busy since, designing and programming their new robot, learning new coding skills, and planning for community outreach in the Hingham Public Schools and with Scout troops on the South Shore.
This is the second year for the team, so they have a strong base to build from and, with several new team members, lots of amped up energy and insights to keep things moving forward.
The main emphasis for FIRST is gracious professionalism. Based on the experience at the kick-off and the kindness and courtesy, skill and generosity shown by team members, coaches, and mentors as we grow into a cohesive unit, we are well on our way to a successful season!
Stay tuned for updates as we prepare for our first competition of the year on December 9 at Needham High School!
