With sorrow and hope, we share the passing of Linda Barrett Polefka, who went home to be with her Creator on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Born in April of 1937, Linda grew up in Newton, MA. She attended Catherine Laboure Nursing School and enjoyed a long career as a dedicated RN, several decades of which were spent at South Shore Hospital. An avid reader Linda was a lifelong learner and supported many and varied charities. She was committed to issues related to the environment, the arts and education of the marginalized. Linda was fiercely independent and deeply empathetic, known for her sharp wit, unwavering kindness and strong spirit.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Polefka, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several of her seven siblings. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim Lally.
Her family will miss her dearly, but the birds of the Hingham Town Forest which she studied and fed faithfully will perhaps miss her the most.
