Obituary: The Honorable Geraldine Lombardo

The Honorable Geraldine Lombardo, 92, a life-long resident of Hingham, Massachusetts, passed from an abundant life on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Gerry was born in Hingham on February 3, 1932. She was the last surviving of ten children of Joseph and Jennie (Falletti) Lombardo.

Gerry is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Peter Marinelli, formerly of Belmont, Massachusetts, with whom she traveled extensively and enjoyed wintering in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Gerry attended local schools, graduating from Hingham High School. While working at the Hingham Courthouse Gerry studied nights at Suffolk University, earning BA and JD degrees. She was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1971. Moving from Assistant Clerk to Clerk of Courts, Gerry was appointed Judge by Governor Edward King in 1981. Her career was highlighted by her pioneering role as the first female First Justice of the Hingham District Court in 1994, retiring from the bench in 2002.

In her professional and personal life Gerry always showed a great caring for the less-fortunate. Anything anyone needed, she was there to help, supporting many civic and charitable organizations.
