October is Rocktober here at South Shore Conservatory (SSC) because any month starting with Mad Love Music Festival and ending with Open Mic Night, two Jazz/Rock/Pop (JRP) faves, means we’re ready to rock! During Rocktober we celebrate all the programs in our JRP department, offering rockers a home at SSC. Between events, rock classes, and private lessons, there’s a lot here to unleash your inner rocker!
Here at SSC we don’t live under a rock (pun intended), and we realize that sometimes people might associate us with more serious classical music study. That’s just one piece of everything South Shore Conservatory has to offer. SSC has a killer JRP department with faculty artists who really know how to jam! We always try to be the best at what we do and that includes rock! And, we're dedicating a whole month to rocking out!
SSC is a community asset. When our families told us they were looking for a safe, supportive place for their teens to rock, our JRP department answered with new pulse-pounding programs such as Rock Band, Open Mic and Monster Jam. Teens through adults rock out under the watchful guidance and knowledge of fun and caring coaches, learning and experimenting with techniques such as improvisation. The best part of Rock Band is the sense of community that forms as we watch musicians from each band support one another. This unique ensemble experience can lead to friendships that last a lifetime.
You’re invited to join SSC for Mad Love Music Festival on Sunday, October 9, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, Drum Circle for ages 14 and up on Saturday, October 15 at 12 noon, and Open Mic Night for teens on Friday, October 28, 7-9 pm, all at One Conservatory Drive, Hingham.
