There’s already one race for the April 27 town election — for School Committee.
Joshua Ross, who was the first to pull nomination papers Jan. 2 when they first became available in the Town Clerk’s office, and incumbent School Committee member Carlos DaSilva both returned their completed papers recently.
Nancy Correnti and incumbent Elizabeth (Liza) O’Reilly also took out papers for School Committee but had not yet returned their papers as of Wednesday afternoon (1/30). Committee member Kay Praschma has not yet taken out papers. If Correnti and O’Reilly also return their papers there would be a four-way race for three seats on the School Committee because the terms of DaSilva, O’Reilly, and Praschma are expiring this year.
Zoning Board of Appeals member Joseph Fisher has returned his nomination papers for Selectman Paul Healey’s seat. Healey, whose term also expires this year, has still not confirmed whether or not he will run for another term. The Selectman term is for three years.
Thomas Patch took out papers for the Planning Board seat currently occupied by Jennifer Gay Smith, whose term expires this year. This is a five-year position.
Town Moderator Michael Puzo, Board of Assessors member Christine Roberts, and Kirk Shilts have also pulled papers — Shilts for both his Board of Health and Sewer Commission seats. Shilts has returned his papers for both seats.
