OUTDOOR FIRE BAN IN EFFECT

November 7, 2024 By The Hingham Fire Department

Due to heightened fire risk and ongoing wildland fires across Massachusetts, all outdoor fires in Hingham are prohibited through 6:00 PM on Monday, November 11, 2024. This ban includes fire pits, chimineas, outdoor fireplaces, cooking fires, and recreational fires.

With current and anticipated weather conditions, combined with the recommendation of the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal, this measure is essential to protect our community and prevent further incidents. Nearly all wildland fires are human-caused and avoidable, making your cooperation critical.

Please be vigilant and:
• Dispose of heating ashes carefully
• Only discard smoking materials in proper receptacles

Understanding the severity of a Red Flag Warning and following these precautions will help reduce wildfire risks during this hazardous period. By staying informed and acting responsibly, we can protect lives, property, and our community.

If you see smoke or flames, call 911 immediately.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
