Hingham, meet Officer Achille and K-9 Pablo.

What inspired you to become a K-9 officer?

K-9 has always been my aspiration while serving on the dept. I’ve always had dogs and enjoy teaching them how to work. It’s been a great pleasure having Pablo and using him to serve the community along side of me.

What types of work are your dogs trained to perform?

Pablo is a narcotic detection dog.

Does your dog have a "party trick" or trick that is not part of his official duties?

I’m not sure you would call it a party trick but he is fantastic at getting into the kitchen lazy Susan and emptying its contents. It’s quite a sight.

What is your dog's biggest motivator?

Food!!! Pablo is food driven and is rewarded for his findings with food. He will stop at nothing for food.

Does your dog have an annoying habit or quirk?

His most annoying habit is probably collecting all of my belongings when I’m not in sight and piling them on the bed ... clothes, shoes, boots, hats, duty belt, anything that is mine. However he’s also very invested in being ON everything! Counters, tables, furniture or anything that he can takes the cushions off of.

What do you love most about Hingham?

The community, and living where myself and my wife both grew up. The 4th of July in Hingham is like no other place!

What is your favorite place in Hingham to walk your dog?

Pablo loves to swim so we frequently go to Bare Cove Park and Wompatuck State Park.

Who is easier to work with humans or animals?

Animals!!! We will leave that one right there, ha ha.

If you had a different career, what would it be?

I honestly can’t imagine any other profession for me. Being a police officer has been something I’ve wanted to do my whole life. To me it’s the best job!

What is one thing on your bucket list?

Big game hunting out west.
