Have you ever thought about the holidays in Liberty Pole during Covid? Well, Mrs. Grady has! She thought of the Liberty Pole Holiday Stroll! The stroll is a fundraiser and a friendly holiday decorating competition that benefits the Hingham Food Pantry. The Scoop’s own news editor, Georgia Goldman, interviewed the founder herself and got all our questions answered.
The Scoop: Mrs. Grady, how did you think of this wonderful neighborhood activity?
A: I thought we're all a little crazy right now and we need something fun. I think it will bring everyone some extra cheer to see lots of houses and yards decorated extra special for the holidays.
The Scoop: What are you raising money for and why?
A: We are raising money for the Hingham Food Pantry because people are struggling and we want everyone to have a joyful holiday.
The Scoop: What are the rules?
A: To be part of the contest, you just have to submit your address to me. You can do that on Facebook by searching “Liberty Pole Holiday Stroll.” It‘s easy! You must enter by December 5th. Voting begins on December 11th. There is a suggested suggested donation of five dollars per vote. All the details on how to vote are on the Facebook event page!
The Scoop: And when does this event happen?
A: Voting takes place from December 11th to 20th. The four categories are: Best classic holiday decorations, Craziest holiday decorations, Best lights display, and-the most important category- Kids’ Favorite!
The Scoop: Don’t forget, the prizes are $10 gift certificates for local sensation The Barrel. (a.k.a.The Cracker Barrel)
