Roger Cyrille Lamoureux passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 26th, 2023, at the Brookdale Memory Care facility in Bradenton FL, age 85. He received loving care and frequent visits by local and visiting family members, as well as a wonderful and caring staff.
Roger was born on January 11th, 1938, in Attleboro MA, the son of the late Cyrille Antoine Lamoureux and Eva Cordelia Lamoureux (Girard).
Roger was a graduate of Coyle Cassidy Catholic High School (1955), earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Bridgewater State Teachers College (1959) and his Master’s Degree from Rhode Island College (1962). Roger earned his way through college playing jazz saxophone. He invited a classmate Genevieve “Ginger” Roberts to one of his musical performances, which blossomed into a lifelong marriage.
Roger and Ginger were married on June 25th, 1960, and raised five children in Plympton MA. In his twenties, Roger became a school Principal in Pembroke MA and then the Principal at the Plymouth River Elementary School in Hingham MA in 1969.
He and Ginger retired from a career in education to Stuart FL and then later to Sun City Hilton Head SC. He enjoyed family, golf, bicycling, bocce, and playing the saxophone. Roger and Ginger travelled often on cruises to various parts of the world.
Roger is survived by his five children: Joseph Lamoureux (Denise), Christine Sampson (Gordon), Robert Lamoureux (Margaret), Edward Lamoureux, Daniel Lamoureux (Lauren). His six grandchildren: Jessica Shuboy (Sampson), Nicole Sampson, Tiffany Sampson, Rowan Lamoureux, Lillian Lamoureux and Madilyn Lamoureux. His great grandchildren: Ava Shuboy, Lulu Shuboy and Olivia Shuboy. Roger was predeceased by his beloved wife Genevieve Lamoureux (Roberts), his mother Eva Lamoureux (Girard) and his father Cyrille Lamoureux.
