Roger J. Landry of Hingham, formerly of Quincy, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022. He was 87.
He was born in Shediac, New Brunswick, Canada to Claudia (LeBlanc) and William F. Landry. He moved to the United States when he was 7 and grew up in Jamaica Plain. He graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and then enlisted in the Air Force when he was 19. He served for 4 years as a mechanic and travelled across North America being stationed in Florida, Texas and Newfoundland.
In his spare time, Roger always had an ongoing project. He was very handy and when he wasn’t working on his house, he built model ships and airplanes. He was an avid sports fan and although he was born in Canada, he was a Boston sports fan through and through. Roger also loved to play sports himself and grew up playing hockey in high school and even in leagues with his brother later in life. He never missed an opportunity to support his son, Matthew. Whether it was from the sidelines or as a coach, he was always there to cheer him on. His patience and unwavering support made for an excellent husband, father, brother and friend.
Beloved husband of 51 years to Karen (Anderson) Landry of Hingham. Devoted father of Matthew Landry and his wife Andrea of Hingham. Loving brother of William Landry of Raynham. Cherished grandfather of Jacob and Emilia Landry of Hingham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Dora Aldred and Helen Romaine.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, October 30th, from 4-6 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, October 31st, at 10 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham. Burial in High Street Cemetery, Hingham.
