On November 10, 2022 the Saint Paul School community gathered in the school hall for the return of their annual Veterans Day Prayer Service. Grade 8 students, with the guidance of instructor Mrs. Sheila Deitsch, lead the school through a program of prayer, explanation of the various branches of service and reflection about the importance of honoring our veterans, both living and dead. Student Council President, Isabel duBose shared that “each year November 11 is an important day we honor our Veterans for what they have shared with our country.  We want to ensure veterans know that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made in their lives to keep our country free.” Students were reminded that it is important that we not only honor veterans on this day but throughout the year. Michael Wheeler also shared some interesting stories of our own SPS veterans. The auditorium was decorated by students with a backdrop display of posters of symbols from the five uniformed military services of the United States and poems sharing their appreciation for veterans. Outside, the perimeter of St. Paul Parish and the school is lined in flags in honor of our veterans.

These guests shared with the students what inspired their service, described their military responsibilities and how their service impacted their lives. At the close, these service members were given a standing ovation for all that they have done for and shared with our country.
