On November 7, 2019 the Saint Paul School community gathered in the school hall for their fifth annual Veterans Day Prayer Service.  Grade 8 students and Student Council lead the school through a program of prayer, explaination of the various branches of service and reflection about the importance of honoring our veterans, both living and dead.   Student Council President, Henry DuBose, shared that “each year November 11 is the day that we ensure veterans know that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made in their lives to keep our country free.”   Students were reminded that it is important that we not only honor veterans on this day but throughout the year.  Saint Paul School students also prepared a backdrop display of posters of symbols from the five uniformed military services of the United States and poems sharing their appreciation for veterans. Outside, the perimeter of St. Paul Parish and the school is lined in flags in honor of our veterans.

Saint Paul School Student Council leaders proudly welcomed the following Veterans and presenters (l-r) Mr. Luke Heffernan, Mr. Thomas Weinzierl and Mr. Ross MacLeod to their 5th annual Veterans Day Prayer Service.

Students, faculty and parents were also joined by veterans Mr. Luke Heffernan (Army Corps of Engineers and father to Teddy, Grade 7), Mr. Ross MacLeod (Air Force and father to Shannon, Grade 8 and Connor, Grade 6) and Mr. Thomas Weinzierl (Air Force and grandfather to Henry DuBose, Grade 8 and Isabel DuBose, Grade 5).   These guests shared with the students what inspired their service, described their military responsibilities and how their service impacted their lives. These guests were given a round of applause for all that they have done for our country.
