Chair of Hingham’s Select Board Joe Fisher, along with members of the Hingham Militia, gathering on Hingham’s Bathing Beach this morning to reaffirm Hingham’s claim to Hingham Bay, despite what Mayor Bob Hedlund declares, and renames Weymouth Back River to Hingham Back River.
“The Town of Hingham was prepared to fight tyranny and aggression in 1775, and we are prepared today to continue that fight. As the Chair of the Hingham Select Board, I am reactivating the Hingham Militia Company and directing them to secure Hingham Bay and Hingham Harbor against all adversaries, foreign or domestic, who threaten Hingham’s sovereign rights. I also declare that the Weymouth Back River shall henceforth be known as the Hingham Back River as it runs through the Town of Hingham and empties into Hingham Bay.
