The select board plans to proclaim today (Jan. 7) Adelia Day in the Town of Hingham at their meeting tonight on the occasion of her birthday.
The proclamation honors the legacy of this beloved South School student and celebrates the spirit of kindness and hope she instilled in the South School and overall community.
Adelia, fondly known as Adelia the Wonder Girl, passed away on May 30, 2024 after a courageous 15-month battle with an incurable form of brain cancer.
The proclamation notes that Adelia’s “sparkling eyes and infectious personality touched the hearts of everyone she encountered” and that she “consistently embraced life with an unparalleled spirit of adventure and a profound love for her family — teaching us all to cherish each moment, love more deeply, and find beauty in every aspect of life. . . . While her passing in 2024 has deeply saddened our community, Adelia’s bright light continues to shine as a reminder of the enduring power of courage and love.”
