June 14, 2020 Story and Photos by Joshua Ross
Sitting 6 feet apart and donning masks, the Class of 2020 came together for the second time in one day after being apart for months. After the parade in the morning, the seniors returned to the High School's all-purpose field to receive their class awards and scholarships. While no parents or spectators were allowed, Harbor Media was broadcasting the ceremony live and The Anchor was there to capture all the moments, including a very special one at the end for one Hingham High Senior. Claire Schnorr will miss graduation on August 1st because she is reporting to The U.S. Naval Academy in two weeks. So unbeknownst to her, Principal Swanson called her up in front of her classmates so she could don her cap and receive her diploma. She was clearly surprised and moved by the this gesture and will surely never forget.

Thank you so much for not only keeping us informed but being “in the moment” inspiring me at least! My daughter was among this graduating class and your coverage has definitely helped them feel celebrated!! 🎓My hats off to you Anchor!
