Registration is open for Hingham Recreation’s Annual Fourth of July Road Race. 2024 is the 65st running of the race, which begins at the Middle School at 1103 Main St. at 7:00 a.m. The course is 4.47 miles down historic Main Street in Hingham. The Recreation Department is proud to be able to have Harbor Media follow the race for the 12th time this year. The start line will be divided into 3 sections by runner’s pace – less than 7 minutes per mile, between 7-8 minutes per mile, and more than 8 minutes per mile. There are three water stations along the route, and restrooms are available at the start. Bus transportation to start the race begins at 5:15 a.m. leaving from the Station Street parking lot.
At the end of the race, bus transportation back to the Middle School departs from South Street near the CVS parking lot starting at 7:30 a.m. For race safety, no pets, strollers, baby joggers, skateboards, or bikes are allowed.
The registration fee is $35 before the race online at www.hinghamrec.com or register at the Hingham Recreation office at Town Hall at 210 Central Street. The day of the race the cost is $40, and runners can register at the Middle School as early as 5:30 a.m.
Following the race, an awards ceremony will take place at the bandstand to present the top male and female runners with medals. Each age category will have medal winners for first, second, and third place – those medals will be available the following day at the Hingham Recreation Office. All participants will be treated to food, music, and fun!
