Amidst the global pandemic, the sixth annual Mad Love Music Festival has been reimagined to bring rock home to the people of the South Shore on October 11, 2020. This year, Mad Love will sell limited-edition Mad Love Rock Boxes and exclusive merchandise to enable rockers everywhere to support the mission of Mad Love and rock-out in a way that is meaningful to them from the safety and comforts of home.
Mad Love Music Festival was established in 2015 by the Jodka family after Dave Jodka, an incredible father and musician, passed away from cancer at the age of 44. The Festival was founded in Hingham to celebrate Dave’s life and create a legacy to share his love of music and inspire future generations of musicians through great rock & roll. Mad Love Music Festival, typically held at the South Shore Conservatory’s Hingham campus every October, is an annual tradition to raise funds to sponsor a scholarship for young rockers.
“We’re excited to continue the mission of Mad Love in a new way in response to our current circumstances,” shared Founder Kathleen Jodka. “While rocking out together in-person is not an option this year, we can continue to embrace our ability to work hard, be kind, have fun and spread Mad Love, always.”
Limited Edition Rock Boxes
To continue the Mad Love mission, limited edition Rock Boxes will be available for purchase to help fans rock out wherever they are this Columbus Day Weekend! Rock Boxes will be sold in three forms, adult, student, and child, and will include exclusive Mad Love swag for virtual rockers young and old.
Featured with the adult Rock Boxes will be a limited release craft beer in partnership with Untold Brewery.
Additional Rock Box items will include Mad Love sunglasses, Mad Love (temporary) tattoos, limited-edition Mad Love masks, as well as other items and fun activities to encourage people to rock out and spread kindness.
Rock Boxes will go on sale in mid-September online at madlovemusicfestival.org. Pre-ordered boxes will be available for safe pick-up on October 11 at South Shore Conservatory. More details will be provided upon purchase.
2020 Exclusive Merchandise
One of the most exciting aspects of Mad Love Music Festival each year is the release of new merchandise. This year will be no exception with our first-ever online store! Limited-edition 2020 Mad Love merchandise is available for purchase between September 2 and September 20, 2020 via madlove.orderpromos.com. All merchandise is limited-edition and will only be for sale within this two-week window. The pre-ordered merchandise will be available for local pick-up on October 11 at South Shore Conservatory.
Rockers who are not local, or unable to pick-up Rock Boxes and Mad Love merchandise on October 11 will be able to arrange for alternate delivery upon purchase.
Each year, proceeds from Mad Love Music Festival support South Shore Conservatory’s Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers, which funds the now regionally known band, Toast. The scholarship, which is open to high school students on the South Shore, covers all expenses associated with performing in the band. Most importantly, the scholarship pays for a coach and other professionals who will truly help the students develop as a group. Over the years, the band has evolved to create their own sound. This year, the Mad Love band has welcomed three new members creating a new, unique vibe. Because of this unique scholarship, the members of the band are able to pursue their love of rock music in a way that is not often experienced at the high school age. Past scholarship recipients have gone on to pursue their passion for music at Berklee College of Music and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, among others.
