South Shore Ballet Theatre (SSBT) offers boys ages 7 through 12 the opportunity to audition to participate under full scholarship in its spring boys’ ballet program. The Boys’ Ballet Scholarship Audition, on Thursday, March 26, from 4 to 5 pm, at SSBT’s new facility at 45 Industrial Park Road, Hingham, allows selected students a full tuition award to study weekly with instructor Harry Yamakawa-Moser on Thursdays, from 4 to 5 pm through June.
The Boys’ Ballet Scholarship Audition is open to the general public, recommended for boys who have an interest in dance, and a sense of musicality. No prior dance experience is required, and students dance in an all-male environment. Ballet inspires boys to develop discipline, artistry and agility. Stretching, strengthening, muscle coordination and musicality are all emphasized in ballet class.
Boys planning to audition should wear clothing that is comfortable for movement, such as bike or basketball shorts and a t-shirt.
Founded in 2008, South Shore Ballet Theatre is a pre-professional ballet school with world class faculty, training tomorrow’s dancers today! SSBT follows American Ballet Theatre's (ABT®) National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough eight-level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.
Participation in the scholarship program is by audition only. To register for a Boys’ Ballet Scholarship Audition, please email ballet@southshoreballettheatre.com.
