South Shore Conservatory (SSC) announces the hiring of Todd Swavey to serve as Director of Arts Education, beginning May 1.
Swavey comes to SSC with more than a decade of experience as a classroom educator, Team Leader, and Coordinator of Fine & Performing Arts in the Medway Public Schools. He has dedicated his career to building and growing strong performing arts programs, providing students with a well-rounded education and a love of the arts. A strong believer that music has the power to transform lives and communities, Swavey is passionate about providing all students the opportunity to explore and express themselves through music.
A newly envisioned position within the organization, the Director of Arts Education will help shape the future of SSC’s core instructional offerings in music and dance education lessons, classes, and ensemble programs, advancing South Shore Conservatory’s commitment to exceptional arts education, critical to the organization’s growth and success.
“After years in the classroom and public school arts leadership, I’m so excited to bring those skills to SSC,” says Swavey. “I’m passionate about creating educational and performing opportunities for students and families, and look forward to becoming a part of this community.”
A tenor, Swavey holds a BM in vocal performance from Mercyhurst University, and an MM in vocal performance from CUNY’s Brooklyn College.
Outside the classroom, Swavey fosters his own creative pursuits, singing and performing on stages and halls all over New England. He is also the Tenor Section Leader at Hingham Congregational Church, and currently sings and serves on the board of The Unicorn Singers.
