The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) today announces the return of its popular Sunset Picnic series at Weir River Farm in Hingham, running Thursday nights from June through September.

The series is a collaboration between The Trustees, local musicians, food trucks and craft breweries. Guests are encouraged to spread out on picnic blankets, relax with family and friends, stroll down to the barnyard to greet Ruby the llama and Nutmeg the pony, purchase locally sourced artisanal snacks from the farm store, and watch the sun set over the Boston skyline.

“There’s nothing like an evening picnic at Weir River Farm,” said Anne Smith-White, South Shore Portfolio Director at The Trustees. “As dusk falls you can see all the Boston Harbor lighthouses come to life. Last year we learned that the cows (our famous Belted Galloway “oreo” cows) love music. They wander through the pasture and right up to the fence as soon as the music starts. That’s pretty magical.”

Local musician, Michael McHugh, is booked for June 16. “The Sunset Picnics are one of my favorite events to perform every summer,” he says. “The setting is amazing – the view from the top of the hill is breathtaking – and the crowd is always fun and supportive.”

Fiddle player and singer Katy Boc-Nickerson will perform with both The Lindsay’s on June 9 and Sparrow Blue on July 21. “I really enjoyed playing at the Weir River Farm Sunset Picnics last year,” she said. “It's such a beautiful place and the concerts have such a fun, family-friendly vibe. It's not always easy to find a venue that brings people of all ages together in such a scenic place, but the Weir River Farm Sunset Picnics do just that.”

“Mom on the Go Food Trucks has had the pleasure to serve thousands of people at the Weir River Farm events,” said Garret Friedman. “As a company, we do hundreds of similar events yearly but there is just something unmistakably unique about the crowd, the energy, and the well-planned flow of these events. Proud to be a partner with the Trustees!”
