After reviewing nearly two dozen applications and participating in six preliminary interviews with applicants for the open Hingham Public Schools superintendent of schools position, the search committee narrowed the pool down to four candidates for further consideration by the School Committee.
They are -- listed in alphabetical order -- Dr. Margaret Adams, current Assistant Superintendent of the Melrose Public Schools; Dr. Scott Carpenter, current Superintendent of the Monomoy Regional School District; Dr. Jennifer Curtis, current Executive Director of South Shore Stars and former Superintendent of Weymouth Public Schools; and Dr. Andrea Schwamb, current Assistant Superintendent of the Wareham Public Schools.
Their resumes will be posted on the HPS website under the "Superintendent Search" link, along with already-posted information about the screening committee, successful candidate and Hingham superintendent profiles, and the timeline for selecting an individual to replace former Supt. Paul Austin. The School Committee is expected to choose the next superintendent either this month or in January.
The School Committee, with assistance from the New England School Development Council throughout the search process, will make the final decision.
In talking about next steps, School Committee and Search Committee member Liza O'Reilly said, "The School Committee now assumes control of the process. We will interview and vet the four candidates, who will be invited to meet with stakeholders," including students, parents, faculty, staff, members of the community, and others.
On Thursday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. there will be a meeting related to the superintendent search. Check the town website calendar for the agenda and other meeting details.
