Girl Scouts Launches CARE SCOUTS Project to Support Hospitalized Children
Girl Scout Troop 62297 wants to help kids who have been hospitalized while fighting illness feel a little less alone. Fifth graders from PRS and East elementary schools chose to focus their Bronze Award efforts on these children, and have launched a community service project in hopes of helping hospitalized kids feel less isolated while they concentrate on getting well.
This is where CARE SCOUTS comes in. CARE SCOUTS is a two-part Girl Scout award project that requires the support and generosity of the Hingham community for its success.
Part one of the project: the creation of patient care packages. Troop 62297 will collect donations, compile and deliver bags with comforting and fun items to pediatric units at Children’s Hospital and the Boston Medical Center. Please consider donating one (or a few!) of the following for these care packages, including: coloring books, markers and colored pencils, craft kits, card games, slime, play doh, stress balls, and small stuffed animals. All items need to be new. If you want the troop to do the shopping for you, you can also donate gift cards. Donation bins will be at PRS elementary, Hingham Library, Hingham Recreation Center, and Hingham Community Center until June 10th.
Part two of the project: Troop 62297 will host a hospitality tent at the PMC Kids Ride on June 9th for Team Maddie. Team Maddie is raising money for Rhabdomysarcoma research in support of a friend and classmate. The Hingham community can help the troop on this part of the project by donating to any of the riders on Team Maddie. Finally, care package donations may also be dropped at the Kids PMC Ride hospitality tent.
Troop 62297 thanks you in advance for your kind support of CARE SCOUTS!
