If the wintry end of October made you think winter is upon us, pump the brakes: the first week of November will offer a return to more seasonable autumn-weather.

Here are three things to know about Hingham’s weather this week:

1. Week Starts Wintry

This week will still be cold, no question: temperatures both Monday and Tuesday morning will be in the 30s, with highs during the afternoon only reaching the low 40s. There may be a brief, passing sprinkle or flurry each day as well, but this would be nothing more than a few drops on the windshield!

Any left over snow, from last week will gradually melt as well. By the way, he 3” of snow that fell on Friday was the most recorded during any October since records began in town in 1960! Looking back at climatology shows that years featuring October snow are more often than not followed by less snowy than normal winters.

2. Sunny and Mild Stretch Follows

Even though the week will start off gloomy, we'll have several beautifully sunny days ahead starting late Tuesday and lasting into the upcoming weekend; with the help of that sunshine, high temperatures will rebound to near 50 on Wednesday! We'll then head into the 60s for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

3. Outdoor Dining Returns

While outdoor dining has been on pause during this wintry stretch of late, opportunities to dine outside return later this week. With daytime temperatures in the 60s Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, dinnertime temperatures will be in the 50s so you’ll still have to wear some extra layers, but take advantage of these nice evenings before true winter weather settles in!
