The three newest members of the Hingham Police Department were officially sworn in as Hingham police officers Wednesday afternoon.

Griffin Moriarty, Kevin Nguyen, and Daniel Goldstein graduated from the police academy last Friday.

Prior to the official swearing in ceremony, Police Chief David Jones welcomed their families and congratulated the three new officers. The small outdoor ceremony was held in front of Town Hall, with the oath of office administered by Town Clerk Eileen McCracken. Each officer signed a copy of their oath and had their badge pinned on their uniform by a family member or friend.

"This brief ceremony is a milestone in their police career," Jones told the Hingham Anchor. "It's a proud moment for them and their families, who were not able to attend their graduation ceremony due to COVID-19."

Members of the board of selectmen, Town Administrator Tom Mayo, and Assistant Town Administrator Michelle Monsegur also attended the ceremony and congratulated the new officers.
