March 28, 2020 (submitted by Hingham Town Clerk)
As the state of emergency announced by Governor Baker remains in effect, it is clear that we will not be able to begin Town Meeting on Monday, April 27, or to hold the Town Election on Saturday, May 2.
Consequently, we are looking at Monday, June 22, 2020, as the most likely date to begin Hingham’s 2020 Annual Town Meeting, and Saturday, June 27, 2020, as the most likely date for the Town Election. The Selectmen, who have the authority to undertake this action, are scheduled to take this matter up at their meeting next Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 7:00 PM. (Dial in information for this meeting is included on the Board of Selectmen's posted agenda.) We are making this announcement now to give citizens as much warning as possible with respect to these important municipal matters. With respect to the Town Election (as opposed to the Town Meeting), voting options will include both absentee ballots and early voting, both by mail. We will continue to provide timely updates as soon as we are able.
