Town Administrator Tom Mayo and Executive Health Officer Susan Sarni are pleased to announce the hiring of the Town of Hingham’s new social worker Jill Sullivan.
Sullivan’s first day in her new role was Monday, Nov. 22. While she will primarily work for the Health Department she will also be available for all departments in town, such as the Library, Fire Department, Elder Services and more.
“Jill has already made connections at many houses of worship, the Hingham Food Pantry, Chamber of Commerce and more within our community and we are very excited to have her on board,” Sarni said. “She will be discussing with our residents any services, housing, food, medical or other needs they might need in order to keep them safe and healthy.”
A Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), Sullivan earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Babson College in 2008, and a Master of Social Work from Boston University in 2015.
Prior to being hired in Hingham, Sullivan worked in the business field at Fidelity before deciding to pursue a career in social work and pursuing her master’s degree. She did field work for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, where she supported individuals within the greater Brockton community.
She then provided individual psychotherapy for people of all ages in a community mental health setting.
Sullivan took time off from her career to raise her children before being hired as a new social worker for the Town of Hingham.
“I am thrilled to join such a strong team here in Hingham, and I hope to further identify community needs while capitalizing on current strengths and provide necessary resources for those in need,” Sullivan said. “In this new role, I am looking forward to supporting, connecting and collaborating with various departments within the Town for the purpose of the continued growth of a healthy and safe community.”
Sullivan lives in Duxbury with her husband, three children and two dogs. She lists some of her passions as childbirth education and being a breastfeeding advocate, and is a lover of donuts and coffee
