The Unicorn Singers and Broad Cove Chorale are based in Hingham, and the group was founded by Margo Euler in Hingham 47 years ago. Members who hail from Hingham include Tracy Allen, Kathleen Almand, Lynn Anderson, Ed Bartholomew, Betsy Clifford, Sally Davenport, Jo-An Heileman, Lizzie Inglis, Bill Reardon, Kathy Reardon, and Stewart Wood.
"Considering Matthew Shepard" tells the true story of a young gay man, killed in a hate crime in Wyoming, and of the love and support that flowed after his death. His story is beautifully told in words and music. News of young Matthew's death spread across the nation, and in 2018 his ashes were interred in the National Cathedral in Washington DC.
The composer, Craig Hella Johnson, conducts a professional chorus in Texas which debuted the piece. The Unicorn Singers and Broad Cove Chorale, along with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of UMass Boston, will co-present a panel discussion on April 6th featuring Craig Hella Johnson and the libretto poets whose work was integral to the composition. The discussion will be moderated by Joan Sobel, a member of the Unicorn Singers. You can register for free to view the discussion via email at ollireg@gmail.com, or call OLLIoffice at 617-287-7312.
Tickets for the concert are at Tickets@www.bcc-us.org, or email Kreardon111@comcast.net. The chorus website is www.bcc-us
