The newly-created outdoor Green at Derby Street Shops, with an opening date of June 18, is a comfortable gathering space where individuals, families, and friends can relax and enjoy a pleasant summer day or evening together following the stresses of the past year.
On Tuesday night, the Select Board approved the issuance of a series of special one-day wine and malt beverages licenses to Mike Dyer on behalf of Untold Brewing for The Green, which will be set up in the breezeway between REI and Kohl's.
The space -- a collaboration between Derby Street Shops and Untold Brewing -- was designed to be open and airy, warm and welcoming, for the enjoyment of the entire community.
Guests will be welcomed at the main entrance near REI's front door. Once entering the area, they will be able to choose from a mix of generously-spaced picnic tables and Adirondack chairs set around one-half wine barrel tables.
The Green will feature a rotating selection of premium Untold beer as well as non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks. Those who stop by are encouraged to order take-out food from one of the Derby Street Shops restaurants and enjoy it at their table. Adding to the comfortable, fun feel are a flower wall, mason jar lights, "warm" wood, and yard games.
The Green will be open Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m. and Sundays, from noon to 7 p.m.
Select Board member Liz Klein noted that the board received numerous letters and emails in support of The Green proposal. "We're all very anxious to get back together again as a community and to celebrate summer," she said.
Yeah for Untold!! This will be great for Derby and the “Green”!
