UPDATED: Beat the Heat – Town of Hingham Cooling Center Information and Heat Safety Tips

According to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), a Heat Advisory will be in effect through Wednesday 7/17 for much of southern New England, including Hingham.  Heat index values are expected to range between 95-104 degrees.

Residents can seek relief from the heat at the following Town facilities: (Updated List)

Hingham Public Library (66 Leavitt Street): 10:00am – 9:00pm

Wednesday, July 17, 2024

Hingham Center for Active Living (224 Central Street): 7:30 AM – 5 PM
Hingham Public Library (66 Leavitt Street): 10:00am – 9:00pm

Limited transportation to the Center for Active Living may be available for home-bound senior residents who wish to cool off during the Center’s regular business hours.  Please call 781-741-1458 to arrange transportation.

Please check on your neighbors.  MEMA outlines a number of extreme heat safety tips, including what to do during extreme heat and how to recognize types of heat-related illnesses.  Please take time to read these important Extreme Safety Tips (mass.gov).  As always, in the case of an emergency, please dial 911.
