Selectman Mary Power reported that the town is still in the "good husbandry" phase (Aquarion's obligation to provide service while the details of Hingham purchasing the portion of the water company that serves Hingham, Hull, and part of Cohasset are being worked out).
"We're working with Aquarion and the other two towns," she said.
Power doesn't expect the town to assume ownership before March 1. "This is a complex transaction," she said.
A Request for Proposals was issued recently for a water system operator, and the water company transition and evaluation committee continues to meet regularly. These meetings are posted on the town website, hingham-ma.gov.
"The Department of Environmental Protection feels that we're moving in an appropriate direction and at an appropriate pace," Power said.
