Way Back Wednesday: Henderson House Painters

June 5, 2024 By Geri Duff

Here is an early view of Pleasant Street looking towards Main Street where you can see the house at #373 Main. The little house to the left belonged to A. Webber in 1903 and the barn and paint shop on the right belonged to C. S. Henderson who lived on Jones Street. Today the little house is still a private residence. The barn and shop are the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel on Pond Street. One of the few times a building changed addresses without being physically moved. C.S. Henderson, House Painter, used the 513 Pleasant Street address and Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel uses the 21 Pond Street Address. This photo is from the Henderson Scrapbook in the Hingham Historical Society archives.
