In 1973 Fearing Pratt identified the people in this photo as (L-R) Alice L. and Gertrude I. Fearing, William Fearing II (their dad) and William B. (his son.) The building on the left marked ‘Public Scales’ and ‘Post Office’ is now the Hingham Center Pharmacy. The middle building marked ‘Wm. Fearing’, ‘Groceries and Provisions’ is now Dependable Cleaners. The building on the far right was Loring Jacob’s clothing store for men and boys. William Fearing sold the building to Seth Burr who moved it to the corner of Main and Garrison Road. The land under Jacob’s store was sold to the Town of Hingham and became the second location of the Niagara Firehouse. The photo is in the Hingham historical Society archives.
