Since forming a troop in 1917 Hingham Girls Scouts have developed friendships across the country and the world. One friend, Elizabeth Hockin of Bedford, England sent the flag of the World Association of Girl Guides (WAGGS) to Hingham Girl Scout Troop 1. All members of the Girl Scouts USA are also members of the WAGGS. Hingham Troop 1 was known as the Holly Troop and under the direction of Captain Bertha Stringer standing here on the far left, the flag was dedicated at the Hingham Congregational Church.
