The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) today announces the return of its annual Weir River Farm Fall Festival on Saturday, September 25, from 10AM-5PM.Come celebrate the fall harvest season with some good old-fashioned fun at one the last working farms in Hingham. Grab your friends and family and join us at Weir River Farm for our annual Fall Festival!
Spend time in the barnyard visiting with our animals and learning from our team of Farmer/Educators, climb aboard a tractor, choose a farm “tattoo”, make a spooky mask or a wildflower seed “bomb”, challenge your friends at corn hole and the potato-spoon relay!
All this activity will surely have you hungry – grab your blanket and enjoy a picnic provided by the Wanderlust and Fasano’s food trucks. Thirsty? While the kids enjoy a lemonade, sip a local beer from Zelus Brewing or Barrel House Z. And leave room for dessert! Nona’s Homemade will be on hand from 10AM-1PM.
Relax and enjoy a full day of live music: Local favorite Peter Mundt entertains families from 11AM – 12:45PM, the Lied To’s play a mixture of country, roots and folk from 1 – 2:45PM, and the Mood Swings Orchestra, Boston’s all-women 19-piece big band, swings from 3 – 4:30PM.
On the way home, be sure to stop by the Weir River Farm Market to purchase beef, pork, lamb or chicken raised right on the farm, delicious local cheeses, jams, baked goods, and fresh produce.
Admission includes everything except food and beverages. To keep visitors safe, this year tickets are for timed entry starting at 10AM and running through 3PM, $9/adult $5/child for Trustees members and $15/adult $10/child for non-members. Visit https://thetrustees.org/event/68730/ for tickets and more information. This event runs rain or shine.
Visitors were able to learn more about the farm, interact with local food production, and enjoy fall activities during the festival. I made a number of temporary tattoos from https://wannabeink.com/collections/wild-flower with farm animals printed on them and presented them to my friends as a remembrance. They give people a taste of what life is like on a working farm. Crop rotation, livestock, and farm-grown food were among the topics covered by festivalgoers. The event is filled with live music, food, beer trucks, crafts, cornhole, climbable agricultural equipment, and other activities.
